Back In The Saddle

Spring is Here!

Unlike last years low water levels this year we have a lake chock-full and ready to be sailed on. I crewed for Party Girl last year, you can get her details here, on my previous blog post. This year I have the honor of crewing on Party Girl for a second year in a row.

We spent a Sunday afternoon unpacking Party Girl's rigging and raising her mast in preparation of the upcoming racing season.

After sitting all winter she was looking a bit grimy and needed a little cleaning behind the ears. The crew scrubbed diligently while the skipper supervised from the afar  As it should be.

Once we had her all cleaned up and ready to go she was escorted to the water and launched.

She looks all fast and ominous parked at the dock. A couple of sails and a boom and she'll be ready to race!

The following Thursday was our first practice race in which we took second! Truth be told there was only two boats in our start group, so to get second, all we had to do was keep the boat above the water and cross the finish line before dark.

One more practice race and then we start racing "for real".
